Berta Rojas is famed around the world for her interpretation of the music of fellow Paraguayan Agustin Barrios, and she will play a number of his works as well as music of Federico Torroba, Ida Presti, and John Duarte from her CD Legado which won the Latin Grammy for Best Classical Album in 2022. She will also play Anido's Portrait by Sergio Assad, written for her, which gained Legado's second Latin Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.
The concert takes place at the University of Arizona's School of Music in the acoustic jewel, Holsclaw Hall. This space seats only 200, so it is a perfect size for the intimate sound of Spanish guitar. Tickets are $35, but students attend for only $10. Families with school age children are welcome. Parking is available in the Park Avenue garage just north of Speedway, a block from the venue.
Berta Rojas will also teach a masterclass on Saturday at 2pm, also in Holsclaw Hall, open to interested auditors at no charge.
