Opera under the Stars

The stage is set for a night of enchantment as I Cantori di Carmel proudly presents "Opera Under the Stars" at the historic Forest Theater. Scheduled for May 11th and 12th, this captivating concert weekend promises to be a one-of-a-kind celebration of opera's timeless allure and beauty, bringing a touch of operatic grandeur to the heart of Carmel.
Led by Music Director, Daniel Henriks, I Cantori di Carmel is becoming more well known for its unique place as a symphonic chorale in the heart of Carmel's classical music hub. Henriks, a former professional opera singer and conductor throughout Europe, infuses the ensemble with a wealth of experience and artistry, ensuring each performance is a masterpiece in its own right.

The "Opera Under the Stars" concert will feature scenes from some of the most cherished works in the operatic canon, including Bizet's "Carmen," Verdi's "La Traviata," and Puccini's "Madame Butterfly." Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the drama, passion, and beauty of opera as these iconic scenes are brought to life by the talented ensemble of singers, guest soloists, operatic power couple Sandra and Christopher Bengochea and mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra and orchestra.

This open-air concert is perfect if you have not yet experienced the transformative power of opera. You will recognize many melodies that are part of pop culture and have been heard in Hollywood movies.
I Cantori is proud to collaborate with amazing players and opera singers, both local and from the greater Bay Area to share in the magic of opera. We are excited to showcase returning soloists and operatic power couple Sandra and Christopher Bengochea and mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra.

Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Please dress in layers and bring pillows and blankets to stay bundled up and cozy in case the fog rolls in.
You are welcome to pack a picnic, drinks and snacks. We will also have a deliciously stocked concession stand with local wines and tasty bites.
There is limited parking on the Theater grounds but please keep in mind you migth have to park and walk on nearby streets. Bring a flashlight!
