Nipomo's beloved Christmas Festival, the Olde Towne Nipomo Family Christmas returns for its 8th year. All the fun begins Sunday, December 8 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Olde Towne Nipomo area. This one- day Christmas festival is well remembered for its Christmas charm that features a hometown Christmas parade, a classic tree lighting ceremony, snowfall events, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the create -a - s'more fire pit area, the Winter Wonderland bounce house area and new this year the "Winter Wonderland Food Court." The Food Court will allow festival goers a place to sit and relax with family and friends, allowing them to purchase from a vast selection of local cuisine and delectable desserts.
Also new to the festival this year is the "Willow Express" train. Brought to you by the folks from Willow Lights at Power of God Christian Center. Board this train with the whole family for a ride around the event grounds. ( Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult).
Festival goers can also enjoy live entertainment throughout the day and into the evening featuring folk and jazz band ensembles.
Starting at 2 p.m. families can stroll through The Christmas Marketplace, (corner of Tefft and Thompson Road in Nipomo) a collection of vendor booths selling everything from hot food and beverages to a variety of holiday gift items. Catch the parade down Tefft Street starting at 5:30 p.m., and the Community Tree Lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. The Tree lighting will follow with a family sing-a-long around the spectacular 24-foot-tall decorated Christmas tree that boasts some 14,000 lights.
The RTA Christmas Trolley will also be available to festival goers, with pick-up and drop-off from the parking lot of Nipomo High School to Jocko's restaurant conveniently located at the heart of the festival event area. The trolley which is free to the public will run from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
