Music For You presents its 2022 Concert to Harmonize the World, “Carnival of the World’s Animals”! As a crowdsourced world music concert, it is the perfect opportunity to share your cultural passion and/or hear unique music from all over the world. Any instrumentalist, student, amateur, or professional, is invited to join in with a piece representing an Animal – something we all treasure – and everyone is invited to listen!
Our “Harmonize the World” program was inspired by world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who assembled musicians, classical & traditional, from all over the world into the Silk Road Ensemble in the interest of world peace. Hearing Yo Yo Ma’s classical cello, Persian kamancheh, and Chinese pipa play together in harmony inspired us to spread that musical-cultural harmony through Music For You’s annual Winter Benefit Concert.
But music isn’t just composed of harmony, that beautiful concept of being more than the sum of its parts, but also of theme or unifying idea. The Animal Kingdom is such an idea, with a place in all our cultures, as shown in the many depictions of animals in music worldwide. Alluding to Saint-Saëns’s popular suite Le Carnaval des animaux, our concert will be a carnivalesque procession of animals and instruments from all over the world, emphasizing our diversity in method and unity in subject.
Finally, we will be inviting you to donate directly to The Mosaic Project (mosaicproject.org), the featured organization for our 2022 concert. They are a wonderful organization that educates schoolchildren in socio-emotional and leadership skills in diverse groups, another way to “harmonize the world”. Concert attendance is free; donation is highly encouraged but not required!
Music For You wishes to see you and your music there!
