The Yards, D.C.’s most exciting waterfront neighborhood for living, dining, shopping and relaxing, is bringing back its annual aprés ski-themed event on Saturday, February 25. Back for the 9th year, Ice Yards has become one of D.C.’s most anticipated winter events. Guests are invited to enjoy live music, photo booths, ice block Jenga, and can even try out iceless curling, ax-throwing, and can ‘hit the slopes’ right on the boardwalk with a snowboard simulator! Guests can also cozy up to a fire pit and sip on winter beverages from their favorite Yards spots including Due South, Agua 301, Maxwell Park, Shilling Canning Co., Osteria Morini, and La Famosa, and with Ice Cream Jubilee’s most popular winter flavors!
The Yards is also proud to continue its partnership with Special Olympics DC for the annual Polar Plunge Fundraiser. Following a month-long fundraising campaign, participants will “take the plunge” to raise funds for Special Olympics DC in an above-ground swimming pool on the boardwalk as Ice Yards guests cheer them on. The Polar Plunge supports over 2,500 DC-based athletes with year-round sports training and the opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics DC Games.
Registration is required for Ice Yards through Eventbrite. Tickets are $15, which includes a drink ticket and a donation to Special Olympics DC. Please note Ice Yards is a 21-and-over event. To register for the SODC Polar Plunge, please visit http://www.dcpolarplunge.org.
