The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches is proud to present featured selections from Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Mendelssohn’s Elijah, composed in the mid-19th century, is a monumental oratorio based on the life of the biblical prophet Elijah. With its evocative melodies, the powerful story is told of the prophet Elijah who remained faithful during a turbulent time in the history of Israel. The most famous piece in this work “He Watching Over Israel” has delighted audiences since the day it was written. This masterwork remains an enduring testament to Mendelssohn’s compositional brilliance. This performance will be enriched by the talents of professional soloists and a live orchestra on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 7 pm, at the Royal Poinciana Chapel on Palm Beach.
