They were three of the most influential songwriters and musicians of their time, lending their talents to the soundtrack of the 1960s with their signature styles, creating an indelible impression on future generations. Their unique sounds are recognizable within just a few beats, and you know you are listening to Jim, Janis, or Jimi.
Their explosion into American culture was met with even more deafening silence as the world lost all three between September 1970 and July 1971. All three were gone. All three were just 27 years old.
However, what they left behind still transports us back to the music revolution of the 1960s and influences today's musicians.
