Author Eric Vickrey Celebrates the Launch of "Runnin' Redbirds"

Eric Vickrey will be selling and signing copies of his two books: "Runnin' Redbirds: The World Champion 1982 St. Louis Cardinals" and the newly-released "Season of Shattered Dreams: Postwar Baseball, the Spokane Indians, and a Tragic Bus Crash That Changed Everything."

Runnin' Redbirds, published in November 2023 by McFarland Books, chronicles the Cardinals' 1982 championship season, from Whitey Herzog's rebuild to the final out of the World Series. Sourced by original player interviews and hundreds of newspapers and books, this detailed account transports fans back to a bygone era of baseball. Author and Cardinal fan Will Leitch described Runnin' Redbirds as "electric and irresistible."

Season of Shattered Dreams, published in April 2024 by Rowman and Littlefield, tells the forgotten true story of the 1946 Spokane Indians baseball team and its tragic bus accident, which to this day is the deadliest incident in the history of American professional sports. It is a fascinating story of heartbreak, perseverance, and incredible happenstance.
