Since its inception in 2016, Luft Balloons, Chicago's premier balloon boutique and showroom located at 345 W. Armitage, has been dedicated to bringing joy through the art of the balloon. To commemorate the 4-year-anniversary, Luft Balloons will dedicate the month of August to activism efforts across Chicago by giving back to the community and offering Chicagoland businesses and organizations complimentary “Increase the Peace,"  “Black Lives Matter,” and "Mental Health For All" balloon bursts. Luft Balloons will also be visiting several small businesses and surprising them with “Balloon Bombs,” consisting of colorful balloon bursts to be displayed on their local storefronts, in an effort to help drive traffic as businesses reopen after a year of closures brought on by the pandemic.

Luft Balloons began its community activism efforts by “balloon bombing” several Chicago hospitals to express gratitude to frontline workers for their sacrifice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chicago-based balloon company then started printing activist sayings on balloons, using them as a visual connector that would promote dialogue within the community. Following the senseless deaths of countless Chicagoans due to gun violence, Luft Balloons began printing “Black Lives Matter” on balloons to support the movement, distributing them to individuals and organizations free of charge. From there, Luft Balloons introduced “Mental Health For All” bunches in addition to their latest, “Increase the Peace” balloons.

Luft Balloons’ complimentary activism bursts can be picked up from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information or to place an order, please call (773) 857-0081 or visit https://www.luftballoonstore.com/.
