Miller hails from New York City and is a drummer/composer/teacher. Miller has been named "Rising Star Drummer" and "Top 20 Jazz Drummers" in Downbeat Magazine's acclaimed Critics Poll. In January, 2020, Paste magazine described Miller's talent: "[Miller] has found the sweet spot between the jazz tradition and the experimental vanguard. The music she plays, the music she writes and the music she draws out of her bandmates has enough melody and swing to pleasure the listener and enough unexpected left turns to surprise that same hearer." Miller's critically acclaimed band, Boom Tic Boom, features pianist Myra Melford, violinist Jenny Scheinman, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, trumpet player Jason Palmer, bassist Todd Sickafoose, and Miller on drums and compositions.
