Encouraging participants to come dressed as their favorite superhero

Saturday, October 8th at 9 AM

 

HIGHWOOD, IL (OCTOBER 8, 2022)Celebrate Highwood is proud to announce registration is now open for the Superhero 5K Family Fun Run, Walk & Stroll. Taking place on Saturday, October 8, during The Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest, participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero like Superman, Ant-Man, Batman, Spiderman or whoever your superhero is! Your superhero may be your mom, dad or a friend who went above and beyond the call of duty. Proceeds benefit The Highland Park Community Foundation.

Kicking off at 9 AM, the start/finish line is at Enjoy Highwood Park, at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Walker Avenue in downtown Highwood, just north of the famous Bent Fork Bakery. The course guides you along the beautiful lake front trail and through historic Fort Sheridan and then back again. You will run by thousands of carved jack-o-lanterns that will be lit later that evening - a sight not to be missed. 

 

Runners and walkers can sign up HERE now through 8 am on race day. The registration fee is $35 per participant (stroller kids are free) and includes run t-shirt, and for participants 21 and older, a choice of an adult beverage including a Tito’s Handmade Vodka Bloody Mary, Ravinia Brewing Company beer or Freshie Organic Tequila Seltzer.  Drink coupons can be redeemed at one of the three bars at The Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest, through Sunday October 9.

 

Pre-race packet pick up will take place on Thursday, October 6 from 10 AM–1 PM at Gearhead Outfitters, 621 Central Avenue, downtown Highland Park, or on Friday, October 7, during The Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest at the Celebrate Highwood booth located in Everts Park, 111 North Avenue, Highwood, IL 60040. *On-site registration and packet pick-up at Enjoy Highwood Park, just north of Bent Fork Bakery starting at 8 AM on race day.

Proceeds from this run will benefit the Highland Park Community Foundation.  Established in 1992 at the request of the City of Highland Park, the fund serves to support and expand the services of social service, cultural, and educational agencies in Highland Park and Highwood. The Foundation has helped to make Highland Park/Highwood a dynamic community, acting as a catalyst to maximize community resources, initiating partnerships between public and private groups and providing financial support to local agencies.

 

The Superhero 5K Family Fun Run, Walk and Stroll is stroller, bike, scooter, wagon and pet friendly! Special route for walkers.
