Homeless Not Hopeless (HnH), the Hyannis based non-profit is hosting its first ever fund-raising event on October 12 featuring Fr. Ray Kelly, the internet singing sensation from Ireland and Britain's Got Talent. This non-denomination event aims to meet a critical and growing need for programs and beds to help the homeless on Cape Cod.

"Last year 60 homeless people died on the Cape," said Richard Murphy, president of Homeless Not Hopeless. "This issue of homelessness is far more deadly than the possible shark attacks that capture the attention of Cape Cod residents and visitors."

Founded in 2007 by three homeless people and their social worker, HnH:
- Offers a unique and proven model to more than 75 women and men each year to help break the cycle of homelessness on the Cape
- Is the only organization on the Cape that provides transitional housing and educational and life-skill programs
- Is a grassroots organization operating four shelters (two for women, two for men) in Hyannis and is supported by the hard work of more than 60 volunteers.

"This event will help support these life-changing efforts, and also hopefully bring visibility to the issue," said Murphy. "We serve women and men who, due to addiction, job loss, divorce, loss of a child, or other circumstances, find themselves without a place to call home. The programs offered are transformational, with former residents often giving back to the organization after moving on to a better life."
Fr. Ray Kelly, a Catholic priest who became an internet sensation in 2014 will perform at the benefit concert. Kelly racked up 91 million hits on YouTube singing the song "Hallelujah" while officiating at a wedding. He has since gone on to record two albums, participated in Ireland's Dancing with the Stars, and was called out as Simon Cowell's "favorite audition ever" on Britain's Got Talent. Kelly is still an active priest in Ireland and shares his music ministry around the world.

The benefit concert will be at the St. John Paul II High School Auditorium, 120 High School Road, Hyannis at 7pm. Ticket information and reservations (there will be no ticket sales at the door) can be found at the Homeless Not Hopeless website: https://homelessnothopeless.org/upcoming-events-fundraisers/ For more information contact HnH via email at officemanager@homelessnothopeless.org
