Bill Douglas (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) hosts top Boston comedy stars Christine Hurley and Mark Scalia --as comedy returns to Toscana Forno, 139 Lynnfield Street, Peabody on Friday, January 31.

Christine Hurley loves what she does...making people laugh! Married to Jimmy Hurley and having five kids, Christine is never at a loss for comedic material. For years, she entertained family, friends and neighbors in their kitchens, at barbeques and the grocery store aisles. The only difference now is she uses a microphone and a stage and has become one of the hottest comedians in the United States. Christine's maiden voyage into the world of stand-up comedy was an open audition in New York City. The television network Nick at Nite was looking for "AMERICA'S FUNNIEST MOM." Out of thousands of entries, Christine was selected to be a finalist on the nationally televised show. The producers of the show included Carol Leifer (Seinfeld show producer), Jeff Singer (talent scout, Montreal Comedy Festival), Jeffrey Ross (Comedy Central roast master) and actress Sandra Bernhardt. Her stories and views on motherhood and marriage are exactly what everyone is living through...people get it and love it! Christine Hurley has quickly become a favorite in the Boston comedy world.

Actor/stand-up comedian Mark Scalia has been a favorite with comedy club and corporate audiences for more than 30 years, although some might know him best as "Scrooge" on the Salem Trolley during the holiday season. "It's great chance for me to get off the road and enjoy the season, and a fun character to play," Scalia says. From comedy clubs to Comedy Central, cable programs to hosting live events, he has entertained tens of thousands of people across the US and Canada. His material is funny, insightful and personable. He is able to craft his sets to include all ages. Mark has performed in many comedy festivals including Boston, Salem, Seattle, and New Orleans.

Bill Douglas is a middle school science teacher by day. At night he's still a middle school science teacher, but also travels around New England performing comedy. In addition to New England, he's performed at clubs in the Midwest and San Francisco. He's appeared at the prestigious Edinburgh (Scotland) Fringe Festival and the less prestigious Missouri Mule Festival. He has shared the stage with headliners such as Jimmy Dunn, Paul Nardizzi, Carolyn Plummer, and Paul D'Angelo.
Presented by Scamps Comedy and Toscana Forno, the night will feature a buffet style dinner at 6 p.m., with dessert family style at the table. Advance tickets are $65 for dinner-show (including tax and gratuity), with a limited number of show-only tickets for $30.
If seats are available tickets will be available at the door for $35 (show only) and $75 (dinner-show).
Showtime is 8 p.m.
All seats are general admission, so couples or groups planning to sit together should plan to arrive early.
Tables of 10 will be available if the buyer purchases 10 tickets.
