SINGER-SONGWRITER LINDA MARKS' 11th STUDIO ALBUM "HOME" TO BE RELEASED 1/1/2022
INSPIRED BY SHELTERING AT HOME

WALTHAM, MA - Pandemic living has transformed our world, and the term "home" has become a more central base for most of us. Sheltering at home. Working at home. Studying at home. Finding peace, but also moments of isolation. Curating recipes for cooking. Appreciating our pets. "Home", singer-songwriter Linda Marks' 11th studio album and second collection of songs inspired by pandemic times, begins with her own meditation on what "home" is, has become, and perhaps will continue to be, since our world will likely be more home-based even after pandemic conditions have eased. The "Home" album chronicles key moments in our socio-political climate (the Capitol Riots, Amanda Gorman's inspirational inaugural speech, the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg), the many facets of relationships, a spotlight on our older citizens, with a humorous reflection on winter in New England, and an upbeat Latin jazzy song thrown in for good measure.

Known for her heart-to-heart style of songwriting, an emotional alchemist, Marks is a healer at heart. She uses songwriting as a way to transform pain into strands of gold that wrap around your heart in a soothing warm embrace. Thanksgiving 2021, a day when most of us spent time at home with loved ones, was a fitting day for the album to drop digitally. The drop date was specially chosen because it was Marks' 11th studio album, dropped in the 11th month, and Thanksgiving Day was on the 25th, her birthday. January 1, 2022 a special CD version of the "Home" album for the global Folk DJ community will be released, mastered by Grammy-winning sound engineer Glenn Barratt.

Marks' arrangements come to life on "Home" with a fine team of musicians: EJ Oullette on violin, guitar, bass and mandolin, Steve Latanision on pedal steel and banjo, Mark Bishop Evans on guitar and vocal harmony, Valerie Thompson on cello, Alice Hasen on violin, Jackie Damsky on violin, Andy Daigle on banjo, Judy Daigle on mandolin, Dave Birkin on saxophone, Bo Winiker on flugelhorn, Craig Akin on bass, and Joe Sabourin on guitar.
The album closes with "Be The Light," which has been called "an anthem for humanity," inspired by Amanda Gorman's inaugural poem. Gorman invited us to not only see the light, but to be the light.

ABOUT LINDA MARKS:
Linda Marks is not only a singer/songwriter, but also a somatic psychotherapist. Known for her heart-to-heart style of songwriting, an emotional alchemist, Marks is a healer at heart. She uses songwriting as a way to transform pain into strands of gold that wrap around your heart in a soothing warm embrace. Her story is one of two musical chapters: a young singer-songwriter and then re-emerging after a couple of decades of "falling under the undertow of life" as a single mom and caregiver for an aging mother with Alzheimer's. As a young singer-songwriter Marks co-founded Yale's 3rd women's a cappella singing group "Something Extra" when she was just a 17-year old college freshman. After college, she brought an active energy to Boston's acoustic music scene, released her first album "Dreams And Themes", appeared on Music America with Ron Della Chiesa, and founded artist-alliance group The Boston Arts Roundtable. Like many women in music, caring for a family and keeping up a full musical career simultaneously could not be done with full presence. After years of raising her son and caring for her mom, Linda re-emerged in 2013 with a lot to say through songwriting. She has released 10 studio albums with award winning sound engineer Doug Hammer of DreamWorld Productions.

Marks integrates elements of jazz with contemporary folk, and pop freedom that can impress the ear while soothing the soul. Linda's poignant originals and fresh arrangements of favorite covers are delivered in an intimate heart-to-heart style. Over the past eight years Linda has played in most of Boston's major venues including Scullers Jazz Club, Club Passim, The Burren, City Winery and Club Cafe. During COVID-19, Linda's weekly Songs From the Heart, Meditations For the Heart livestream has attracted a global following. Linda has been featured on "All Things Considered" on NPR, in Boston magazine and in the Boston Globe, is co-founder of artist-alliance group #WIMG Women In Music Gathering, and has written songs to benefit community causes. Her song, "Light Up the Love," anthem for the global Light Up the Love movement, was voted the #1 song of Summer 2020 on Independent Share, Cygnus Radio. She has produced ten albums with award winning sound engineer, pianist and composer Doug Hammer, with a 2022 album (Every Day Legends) in production. Linda is a LadyLake Entertainment Artist.
