The Ukrainian Festival to benefit humanitarian aid for Ukraine

A Ukrainian festival featuring folk dancers, singers, musical groups, arts, and crafts, as well as traditional Ukrainian food, will be held at the Polish Community Center at 225 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, New York on September 14th. The event is open the public. Performances begin at noon and continue to 6 pm, followed by dancing to live music until 10pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The festival is spearheaded by the Capital District branch of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA). Notably, all festival proceeds will be donated to humanitarian and benevolent aid for Ukraine.

The event will be held at the Polish Community Center for the first time to accommodate a larger venue. Performers from as far as New York City and Montreal which include singers and instrumentalists, the Syzokryli Dance Ensemble, the Ukrainian orchestra Volya, the CDSUS Student Choir and over 12 groups will perform from noon until 6pm. Dancing to live music will start at 6pm and continue until 10pm. The event will also include Ukrainian foods, traditional borscht, stuffed cabbage, perogies, kielbasa, kabobs and desserts. Exhibits of Ukrainian embroidery, eggs and artifacts will be shown and offered for sale. Ukraine aid organizations including 518Ukrainians.com, Revived Soldiers Ukraine, who help in the rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian army soldiers, BlueSky Ukraine, who help Ukrainian civilians, as well as Medical Relief Ukraine will be on hand to explain their efforts. The past two years many important purchases for Ukraine were made with donations from the Capital District. They included direct purchases of medical supplies, ambulances, safety equipment and humanitarian assistance.
