Beaverton High School Drama Department is First in Oregon to Present Nationally Acclaimed Musical 'Ranked'
A dystopian world where academic competition defines each student's worth, and students do whatever it takes to get to the top of the leaderboards - Buy your grades. Buy your future. But what happens when the rest of the world finds out?

BHS drama department presents the musical "Ranked," a fictional story about the brutal academic competition on a high school campus - that has gone on to play out in the national news. BHS is the first theater department to debut Ranked, a musical, in the state of Oregon.

Production times are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 2, 3, and 4; plus a matinee showing at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4.

Tickets are $10 general, $5 for seniors, $10 for non-BHS students, $5 for BHS students. Veterans and Emergency Service personnel are free. Tickets are online and at the door. Come enjoy the show and support the arts.

Written by Kyle Holmes, with music by David Tayler Gomes, the story involves a public high school, dominated by giant screens featuring every student's daily academic ranking, which governs everything from where you sit to what your future holds. These rankings are the focus of students and adults throughout the school and community; Then, a shocking revelation cuts off the ranking and threatens to topple the system. Spoiler alert: Parents are involved.

"It's exciting to bring Oregon's first production of 'Ranked' to the stage, which resonates for so many high school students and their parents," said Shannon Dery, BHS drama teacher. "The show 'Ranked' makes a powerfully important statement that needs to be heard by all."

The musical brings strong cultural relevance with relatable characters, as well as edgy and engaging music that all ages can enjoy – recommended for ages 12 and older.
