You are invited to join the Oregon State University Department of Integrative Biology and College of Science for the 6th annual Robert M. Storm Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Our speaker this year is George James (Jim) Kenagy, Professor of Biology and Curator of Mammals, Emeritus at the University of Washington. Jim will deliver a lecture entitled "Survival in the Desert: Coping with Heat, Aridity, and Scarce Resources".

Kenagy will begin his lecture with a brief salute to Doc Storm's legacy, early attention to Benton County wildlife, and later discovery of the curiosities of the Alvord Desert—a place holding common interests for both Storm and Kenagy. Our speaker will go on to provide highlights of his own life fascination with desert animals, with special attention to the complex communities of rodents that have adapted to desert conditions.

This year, the event will be held at the LaSells Stewart Center on the Oregon State University campus. We will begin with a reception at 5:30 pm in the Giustina Gallery followed by the lecture at 7 pm in the Construction and Engineering Hall. Immediately following the lecture, Jim will be available with copies of his book, and we will have some display tables of specimens specific to the lecture topic. REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED.
