Portland, Oregon, June 9, 2022- The "Filipino Food Month: A Celebration of Culinary Heritage in Oregon" opens on June 27th and continues through all of July, highlighting the variety and uniqueness of Filipino cuisine, featuring the Filipino American chefs behind this delectable fare.

Presented by the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) in partnership with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Oregon (PACCO), the Filipino Food Month aims to increase appreciation of Filipino cuisine among foodies in Oregon, with spotlights on local Filipino restaurants, food carts, food trucks, as well as specialty food establishments that offer Filipino food ingredients.

This gastronomic festivity commences with a limited 2-night "Six-Hands Dinner" which combines the skills of three (3) Filipino American chefs for each night. Both dinners will be held at Magna Kusina, named 2021's Restaurant of the Year by OregonLive.com.

On June 27, Monday, the first of the Six-Hands Dinner will offer a special menu prepared by Chefs Carlo Lamagna and Kevin Balonso of Magna Kusina, with Alexandria Guevarra of Allie G's Pastries. And on the second night, Tuesday the June 28, chefs TJ Cruz of SunricePDX, Geri and Ethan Leung of Baon Kainan, and Melvin Trinidad of BarkadaPDX, will in turn, concoct their own notable menu layout.

For the whole month of July, participating restaurants will serve innovative Filipino prix fixe meals on set days of the month selected by each restaurant. The prix fixe meal is a set meal composed of appetizer, entree or main course and dessert. It can be offered for either lunch, brunch or dinner, or any combination, at the option of the participating restaurant.

All these events are open to the public.

Soleil Tropicales, Tourism Attache, of the Philippine Department of Tourism - San Francisco, Philippine Consulate General, hopes that this culinary celebration will be an annual event, where Oregonians can preview Philippine culinary tourism, and have a taste of an authentic Filipino cuisine experience.

"Through the Filipino Food Month, we hope to encourage the people of Oregon to visit the Philippines and experience the warm Filipino hospitality and see our breathtaking tourist spots. Our 7,641 islands will surely give you endless fun and memories!", according to Tropicales.
