Life's Simple Pleasures

My name is Cynthia Oswald. I’m an artist and designer based out of Phoenixville, PA. I have always had a deep appreciation for how my direct environment can enhance the way I feel. It has led me to explore a blend of fine art and surface design. I devote my personal creative time to blending watercolor or ink with my favorite landscapes, flora, and fauna. I also run a boutique branding agency that helps passionate creatives bring their ideas to life through print and web design. When I’m not working, you can find me snuggling with my infant, chasing my toddler and dogs around our home, enjoying a fire with my husband, reading the latest in personal growth, daydreaming about Italy, or adventuring in a landscape nearby. My daughters have reminded me that adventure and discovery are everywhere if you look close enough. Because of them, my inspiration well runs deep. 

 

For the last three years, I’ve been focusing my attention on plant life. Flora has given me the space to control the composition in any way I choose. Sometimes that looks like creating a symmetrical design or pattern, other times it means overlapping light and shadow to create the wild nature, constant fluidity, and fresh compositions found in plant life. All of the work is about discovering and embracing my intuition in my artwork and in my life. As an artist, I believe that your work is a compilation of your life experience—that can translate so many different ways. In this season, it truly has to do with slowing down to see the beauty or magic at any moment. I’m absorbing and reflecting on all of the goodness that comes with taking in life’s simple pleasures, and I hope you see that reflected in my work.
