Production of Anastasia The Musical: Youth Edition
Shamokin - The Anne Miles Children's Theatre sponsored by The Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities is proud to present Anastasia The Musical: Youth Edition on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of the Career and Arts Center, Shamokin.
Anastasia The Musical: Youth Edition made its world premiere at Hartford Stage in Connecticut, completing a sold-out, record-breaking run before transferring to Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre on March 23, 1017. Anastasia has also been seen on the national tour in the United States and garnered Best Musical awards in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. Inspired by the longstanding mystery of the long-lost Romanov grand duchess, and the 1997 animated film, Anastasia was workshopped in 2021 for a Youth Edition adaptation. Anastasia The Musical; Youth Edition continues to be performed by youth arts organization far and wide. Anastasia was helmed by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnijak, with a book by Tony award winners Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by Tony winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens.
The production staff consists of Sharon L. Styer, Director; Lauren Zimmerman, Choreographer; Hailey Cooper, Assistant to the Director; and Kevin Styer, Sound, Lighting, and Stage Technician.
Over two dozen talented students ranging in age from 9 to 19 comprise the cast full of fabulous music and dancing.
