The Eureka Room - a unique and fun participatory experience.
For fans of immersive art like Meow Wolf and Hopscotch, or unique roadside attractions like Cadillac Ranch or the Cathedral of Junk, there now comes the Eureka Room, an absurd participatory experience for friends and strangers. Visitors engage with playful and curious programming within a one-of-a-kind one hundred square foot room filled with light and sound. Accompanied by an original soundtrack and videos, visitors are guided through a series of low-impact and high-hilarity activities.
Longtime Austin resident Mike Michaels first envisioned the Eureka Room nearly a decade ago as a space to experiment with his long list of unique and fun experiences. It has been featured on the East Austin Studio tour as well as in the Austin Chronicle and is currently the no. 1 weird thing to do according to do512 and Irl Experience Design.
Precisely what happens in the Eureka Room is hard to describe. It's the ideal activity for groups of friends; colleagues organizing an office party or team-building experience; or individuals who want to inject an hour of low-commitment, no-stress laughter and play into their day. "If you're the type of person that loves unique experiences and fun surprises-come to the Eureka Room," advises Michaels. "And hurry. It's only here for a limited time."
The Eureka Room is open now until March 2023. Visits must be booked in advance and cost $25 and up. The program is one hour long and intended for participants ages 16+.
