Town Hall: Miss America 2023, Nuclear Energy, Climate Change

In December, Grace Stanke was crowned Miss America 2023. Ms. Stanke is using her platform, "Clean Energy – Cleaner Future," to amplify the many benefits of nuclear power and inspire the next generation of female scientists, engineers and mathematicians. We're excited to share that she's taking this conversation to center stage in Seattle this month.

Friends of Fission Northwest and Town Hall Seattle will present an inspiring conversation about nuclear power, climate change and careers for young women in STEM with Miss America Grace Stanke and Scott Montgomery, University of Washington faculty member from the Jackson School of International Studies, on Friday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. The discussion will be followed by a QandA.
The event will also feature a Resource Fair with information booths from event sponsors Anthropocene Institute, American Nuclear Society (Eastern WA section), Energy Northwest and Terrestrial Energy, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby.
About Miss America Grace Stanke
Grace Stanke is the third Miss Wisconsin to earn the title of Miss America. Ms. Stanke is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin – Madison with vast experience in industry research and co-op rotations exploring subjects like nuclear fuel enrichment and reactor performance. She advocates for America reaching net zero with the help of nuclear power, correcting misconceptions and improving communication about nuclear science while encouraging young women to pursue STEM careers along the way.
